Question by vtsztpu: Is the world sliding down a slippery slope into the abyss of a universal depression?

I hear from 'experts' on TV shows that Europe is very fragile economically and could collapse like a house of cards with little provocation. Would that then pull down the US and the rest of the world and create economic chaos world wide?
I saw Book Of ELi and the Road Warrior movies, and I did not get the feeling that people had learned anything about kindness or goodness.
