James Watrous (1908â€"1999) was the Oskar Hagen Professor of Art History at the University of Wisconsinâ€"Madison. As an artist he was known especially for his murals and mosaics, and he was the driving force in founding the Elvehjem Museum of Art at the University of Wisconsinâ€"Madison. He is the author of A Century of American Printmaking, 1880â€"1980, also published by the University of Wisconsin Press.
