What is nonfiction and how can I make it interesting?

I am filling out an application and it says to enter two, third person, nonfiction articles. Would it be appropriate to write an article about someone I know? Is a bibliography a kind of nonfiction article? I don't want to write a boring article about overly discussed world events. Does anyone have any interesting topics?

yes, a bibliography is nonfiction
nonfiction just means real (aka real life) that is based on events as they actually occurred
sometimes bibliographies are embellished just a tad, but try to stay accurate
